Past Victories

  • Nearly two decades ago, I was arrested at Grady Hospital here in Atlanta for protesting a dramatic copay increase due to a funding gap — one we were able to stop with the power of civil disobedience. And just a few years ago, I was arrested once again for protesting injustice in our healthcare system, when I refused to leave the Governor’s office until he agreed to accept the funds to expand Medicaid to cover hundreds of thousands of uninsured citizens here.

Current Stance

  • I support single-payer healthcare, and have been arrested twice for protesting healthcare injustice. As Mayor of Atlanta, I will continue to stand up for quality, accessible healthcare for my fellow Atlantans, Georgians, and all Americans.
